Welcome to Ramona Lutheran Christian Preschool. We appreciate your time in reviewing our website and hope it has provided some helpful information regarding what our school has to offer.

RLCS offers a loving Christian child-centered environment. Our nurturing and experienced staff is dedicated to helping your child make a smooth transition from home to Kindergarten and beyond. We offer an individualized program which facilitates the developmental level of most 2½ year old children up to age six, regardless of previous experience.  The goals of our staff are to help your child progress to the next level by engaging their creativity and offering activities that hold their interest.

Additionally, the Montessori Method which we utilize provides a learning environment to advance your child's knowledge in all of the core subjects.  Students receive instruction in language arts, math, science, and the arts using hands-on manipulative-based materials.

Class sizes maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 12.  We provide a safe environment while teaching and modeling caring Christian conduct. RLCS provides a family atmosphere where home and school work together to help each child reach their potential.

We would love the opportunity to meet you and your child personally and encourage you to schedule a tour.  If you are not familiar with the Montessori Method, during the tour we will be happy to explain further as you see the classroom in action.  You can schedule a tour by selecting the “schedule a tour” button or contacting me at or at 760-789-4804 to learn more.

Do I have to be a member of your church or a particular church to send my child to school there?

No, we have families from many different faith backgrounds. In Preschool, we share the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ in a simple manner that young children can understand. Our Elementary school continues a deepeer level of religious instruction from a Lutheran perspective. To learn more details about what Lutherans believe please visit the Our Beliefs section at the Elementary About Us page.

Is your preschool program full day or half day?

We offer a full day preschool program or a half day preschool program. It is your choice according to your family and child's needs. The morning class time is devoted to Montessori method classroom instruction. If your child remains after lunchtime, they have the choice of resting or attending our Enrichment class (depending on their age and developmental level).

What are the class sizes?

Our classes are typically a maximum of 16 - 17 students with two teachers. During class time, we maintain an average of 8:1 student teacher ratio.

Does curriculum prepare the children for Kindergarten?

Yes. And in most cases it exceeds the requirements, depending on the length of time your child is enrolled, and their individual developmental level. Since the Montessori Method of our instruction is completely individualized, your child progresses at their own pace and may even advance into Kindergarten level work during their preschool experience.

Do your students wear uniforms?

Although our Elementary students do wear uniforms, for Preschoolers they are not required. We do provide each student with a school t-shirt to wear on Wednesday chapel days and on field trips to foster a sense of school unity.

Are your teachers well-trained and educated in Child Development?

All teachers have completed the required Early Childhood Education coursework and are well-experienced. Some hold Associates or Bachelor degrees as well. Additionally, they are all CPR and First Aide certified, with full background checks, as required by law.

What are the preschool hours?

● Preschool is in session Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm (for half day students) and 8:30 am to 3:00pm (for full day students). ● Drop-of begins at 8:15am (unless you are utilizing our Extended Care progam, from 7am). ● Pick-up is between 3:00 pm-3:15 pm (unless you are utilizing our Extended Care program, which is available until 5:30)

Do you have before and after school care?

Yes. Our "Extended Care" program is offered before school from 7:00 am-8:30 am. Our after school program runs from 3:00 pm-5:30 pm. There are various pricing structures from hourly to prepaid flat fees, which are explained on our Tuition Info page.

Does your school offer a hot lunch program and snacks?

Yes. Our lunch program is serviced through Ramona Family Naturals Market, by advance monthly purchase. Additionally, for preschoolers, a nutritious snack is also provided (free of charge) in the morning for every student and in the afternoon for those who remain after 3:30 in Extended Care.

RLCS accepts and acknowledges all the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible as the inspired, revealed, and inerrant Word of God, and accepts and acknowledges all the Symbolical Books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church as a true and sound exposition of Christian Doctrine taken from and in full agreement with the Holy Scriptures.

RLCS acknowledges, accepts and believes that all who have been brought to faith in Jesus Christ are commissioned by Him to preserve and extend the kingdom of God. This is done by proclaiming to all, in the most effective means possible, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the Work of the Holy Spirit, this proclamation changes hearts and lives and brings victory and comfort to individuals who are declared totally and unconditionally righteous for Christ’s sake.

RLCS acknowledges, accepts, and believes that Holy Scripture gives guidance for our interrelationships and direction for our teaching.  The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of RLCS’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Church Pastor (and School Board) is RLCS’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

We seek to do God’s will in all our teaching and learning as we profess our belief and acceptance of the words of Christ. We strive to follow His admonition to "love one another" and encourage our students to practice this as well.
